In Northern Australia Rangers are looking for a 4 meter long crocodile that killed a 12 year old boy and mauled his close friend. The two boys were swimming in a popular waterhole which was a destination for many tourists. The boy was taken by a salt water crocodile while he and four of his friends swam in the watering hole. The boys friend was mauled by the crocodile but managed to fight him off suffering major wounds on both of his arms. “One boy fought off the crocodile, and then the crocodile turned and took the other boy,” Constable told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio. The authorities have killed two crocodiles looking for the crocodile who killed the 12 year old boy. The missing boy is from a small Aboriginal settlement of Mudginberri. Authorities police and park rangers searched for the boy with spot lights late into Sunday night and resumed early Monday morning. Police are warning tourists not to swim in waterways because of high crocodile danger. The crocodile population in Northern Australia has exploded because of the law made in 1971 that protected them from hunting. This is not the first time this has happened in the past year in August a 26 year old man who was swimming across the Mary River was also attacked by a crocodile.
The fact that a 12 year old boy was killed and eaten by a 4 meter long crocodile is terrifying. This is going to affect the area in Northern Australia because of the fear of going into the water. Also the tourism in the area will also fall because of the worldwide news that is being reported on this story. The people who live in and around these parts should be more careful when they are going in the water that they do not know is inside. Crocodiles are natural predators and if it sees something splashing around in the water like the little boys they will not things twice about attacking.
